Interestingly, this incident occurred amidst an ongoing public feud between Drake and California rapper Kendrick Lamar. The two artists have been exchanging diss tracks, with Lamar’s most recent track, “Not Like Us,” even featuring a satellite image of Drake’s 50,000 square foot mega-mansion—the same property that was cordoned off with police tape after the shooting. Despite the tension between the two rappers, the police have not directly linked the feud to the shooting, as it is still early in the investigation

It’s worth noting that the dispute between Drake and Lamar has garnered attention, even benefiting local businesses. After Lamar mentioned the Chinese restaurant New Ho King in one of his tracks, the restaurant experienced a surge in business and received rave reviews from patrons.
